Inland Imaging Adds Two CT Scanners to Network

Back to News
Inland Imaging is proud to announce the addition of two new Toshiba multi-slice CT scanners to our comprehensive CT network.

Computerized Tomography (CT) has become an invaluable tool for physicians to accurately diagnose everything from early-onset heart disease to various cancers, in addition to preventative screenings for many complex diseases.

In a CT scan, the scanner takes multiple x-rays (known as slices) to compose a full image of an organ or tissue, with each X-ray slice lasting a fraction of a second. A computer then reconstructs these slices to form highly detailed two- and three-dimensional images. As such, the more detectors inside the device (in this case, 64 or 16 slides are collected in one scan) the better the image resolution, which means there’s more information available for your physician to make an accurate diagnosis. Inland’s sub-specialized radiologists are trained to use these scanners to create a report to help physicians compose a complete diagnosis.

The high level of detail present in the new CT scanners opens up a world of possibilities for physicians tackling complex medical issues. Whereas previous CT scanner models could only track the mere growth of a tumor, physicians can now monitor the blood flow throughout the tumor to recognize key areas for diagnosis. Also, physicians can examine a patient’s heart between beats, so they can obtain a clearer image of the heart without the blurred motion of a heartbeat.

This increase in scanning speed also leads to improved patient comfort when diagnosing early-onset heart disease and checking for arterial plaque, as Inland’s 64- and 16-slice CT scanners can be as precise during a CT angiography as more invasive procedures, such as an arteriography.

Another helpful aspect of the CT’s scanning speed is that patients now only need to hold their breath for a few seconds (as opposed to more than 30 seconds for previous models) for the scanner to capture its images.

Inland Imaging is proud to be able to bring the latest multi-slice CT technology to patients and physicians throughout our network. Inland Imaging has added a 16-slice scanner at our Holy Family Imaging Center in addition to a 64-slice scanner at our Valley Imaging Center. Inland Imaging has a total of 6 CT scanners available to patients and their physicians.
