Inland Imaging Now Offers Prior Authorizations to Referrers

Back to News
Inland Imaging now offers a prior authorization program designed to take the pressure off medical offices and save time and cost to the patient. Participants of a recent referring office staff focus group expressed their view that Inland Imaging should obtain prior authorizations for MRI and CT procedures.

This discussion led the Inland Imaging staff to subsequent conversations with insurance companies, billing specialists, and additional referring office staff searching for a way to make this process easier for referring staff and ultimately less costly for all involved. As a result of these efforts, Inland Imaging is now obtaining insurance prior-authorizations for advanced medical imaging exams for those providers who wish.

Tara Jones, a long-time Inland Imaging MRI and CT Scheduler now serves as the Prior-authorization Specialist.  With her training and background she knows which imaging study is appropriate for the indicated clinical history and will act as the liaison between the provider and the insurance company when additional information is needed in order to get a study authorized. Tara monitors the status of a request and can get studies scheduled in a timely manner as soon as authorization is obtained. Tara tracks changes to insurance protocols and keeps up with yearly updates of paying standards.

Tara says “Providing this service should allow exams to move through the system faster and save referring medical assistants and office staff time.  It should be a great way to service our patients sooner so they can get answers to their healthcare questions.  This is one way we can make a difference in their lives.”

When ordering an exam, referring office staff must indicate they would like Inland Imaging to manage the prior-authorization for their patient. For more information regarding prior-authorizations, please contact Dan McBride at 509-363-7799.
