Inland Imaging has installed a new software application called NeuroQ™
that greatly enhances the ability to diagnose dementia. The automated
nuclear medicine software platform provides quantitative analysis and
image displays of brain PET/CT scans.
NeuroQ™ (a software
product designed by Syntermed™) is a tool that helps with the
differential diagnosis of dementia by comparing the PET/CT quantitative
data of a patient, standardized database of similar scans from patients
with varying degrees of different dementia complexes, and to
age-matched normal patients. The quantitative information from the
NeuroQ™ application allows for proper monitoring of the progression of
a patient’s disease.
As an adjunct to standard brain PET-CT
scans, NeuroQ™ is able to rapidly quantify the level of brain
metabolism, providing physicians with the ability to detect dementia
with greater specificity. The study allows better analysis and staging
in order to determine the appropriate treatment plan for those patients
diagnosed with disease.
Inland Imaging neuroradiologists,
clinicians, and management reviewed researched results and clinical
trial data prior to the approval of the new software. It was determined
that the NeuroQ™ application delivered a superior output for diagnosing
patients with dementia.
By the end of this year, Inland
Imaging will provide color images documenting region-by-region
metabolic patterns, and a table of the actual quantitative differences
from normal controls for each area to the referring physician that
ordered the PET/CT exam.
