Coronary PET/CT

Coronary PET/CT

An efficient and noninvasive test, PET/CT serves as a powerful tool for evaluating the coronary anatomy and tissue viability. PET/CT is a form of molecular imaging that has the ability to visualize and monitor processes on a cell level, providing information about possible defects or pathology transformation.

PET/CT requires an ingestion or injection of a radioactive isotope that releases positrons at the cellular level. These collide with electrons creating a light pattern that can be scanned. The combination of PET and CT technology uses two ‘machines’ on a single scanner, allowing the clinician to see images at the metabolic level and uncover physical problems or anatomical abnormalities.
