General Preparation

Metal objects including jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures, and hairpins may affect the study and should be left at home whenever possible.

If over 60 years of age, a blood test may be needed prior to a CT exam.

Women who may possibly be pregnant should notify the technologist immediately.

Additional Preparation

If the patient is supplied with a mouthpiece the should bring it with them for the scan appointment.

Time for Study

15 minutes for single jaw
30 minutes for upper and lower jaws.
